Diversity in the range of female Guest

At first glance the type of female guests on the show appear to be from the same cookie cutter mould, but if you watch an entire episode, you'd notice that the range of guests they bring on the show is actually quite diverse.

Although most of the girls are pretty ladies in their mid-twenties who sometimes get questioned on whether their motive is to find a date or to gain more exposure ( a few ladies from the show have gotten so much media attention that they've gone on to become celebrities) , you also have your occasional 40 years old, single mothers with kids, divorcees, girls who dress androgynously... basically people who might be marginalized in the dating world in China in the real life.

Unfortunately, their chances on the show are not much better.

The show is not radical enough to attempt finding partners for ladies who swing the other way. The statistics wouldn't work anyway.

Inter-racial Dating

Also interesting is the emerging trend of foreign women coming to China to find a Chinese boyfriend, these foreign ladies brought with them unique cultural perspectives to the show. I don't know whether this is a deliberate attempt to market the show globally, but it's certainly made it a hell lot more interesting.

Interracial dating is still seen as somewhat a taboo in China, especially in more traditional Chinese families. Casual dates might be fine, but Chinese parents would still prefer in-laws who share their values and speak their language.

In addition, while the white guy asian girl pairing has been around for sometime, the opposite is less common.

On one of the most recent episodes of the show, about one fifths of the guests are not from mainland Chinese.

It's often eye opening to hear their take on traditional Chinese values such as filial piety, gender roles in relationship as well as their opinions on how Chinese men compare to foreign men they've dated previously.
