Summarizing some of my favourite thought provoking reads over the week:
Why Writers are the worst Procrastinators
Not just for or about writers, gives an insight as to why creative types keep putting off their work
The gist is that the fear of producing bad work is so great that people will only be compelled to create things when that fear is overtaken by a bigger, greater fear: the fear of not producing anything at all (ie near/past the deadline)
“中国状元”在美读大学后对中国教育的感悟
h/t Vinny A essay by a Chinese student in an US university reflecting on how to choose the right major, making the most out of college life, and the pedagogical differences between Chinese and US education.
Writer makes a point that Chinese parents while affluent American parents encourage their kids to study humanities and liberal arts to gain a more holistic point of the world. http://imgur.com/bUBp4t0
Lisa's prerogative is that the college woman is the real prize here, because men stand to benefit more from a happy marriage than women.
'Young women should not be scared into action based on a world view from another era, that does not square with today’s facts...In reality it is the college-educated woman who is the prize. Her husband can expect a higher level of income, a healthier life, and longer marriage.'

Who Goes Nazi?
By Dorothy Thompson, published on the August 1941 issue of Harper's Magazine. Hat tip to Emlyn. The author's main view. Regardless of race, some people will never turn Nazi and some people inevitably will.Princeton Mom vs. the Facts
Lisa Endlich Heffernan's timely response to Susan Patton's polemic that college girls should be focused on shopping for a good man in college (rather than, you know, focussing on getting a quality college education).Lisa's prerogative is that the college woman is the real prize here, because men stand to benefit more from a happy marriage than women.
